Festival tourism is one of the main aspects influencing the development of the touristic areas the festivals are organized in. Festivals occur worldwide, and are more and more often picked as the leisure activity of choice. Their variety and rich set of attractions intended for the participants aim to attract as many tourists as possible, who have the possibility of, besides taking part in the event, to explore the area historically, culturally, etc. In this article the history of the Woodstock festival in Poland was discussed, and a precise description of the event was made. The main goal of the article is to illustrate the evaluation of the influence of festival tourism on the development of the Kostrzyn city and on the activity of the local mercantile and service entrepreneurships, related to the organization of the festival. In the article, the results of the questionnaires, in which the respondents evaluated the development of the touristic-service and technical infrastructure, local authorities’ activity related to the festival’s organization and security, the change in behaviour of the city’s residents during the event, the changes in finances of the entrepreneurs, and the advantages of the event, where shown.

Turystyka festiwalowa jest jednym z najważniejszych aspektów wpływających na rozwój turystyczny obszarów, na których są one organizowane. Festiwale odbywają się niemal na całym świecie, są coraz częściej wybierane jako forma spędzania czasu wolnego, a ich różnorodność oraz bogaty zasób atrakcji przeznaczonych dla uczestniczących w nich osób ma na celu przyciągnięcie jak największej liczby turystów, którzy poza uczestnictwem w wydarzeniu, będą mieli także możliwość poznania danego regionu pod kątem jego zasobów kulturowych, historycznych itp. W artykule omówiona została historia Festiwalu Woodstock w Polsce oraz dokonany został opis tego wydarzenia. Głównym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie oceny wpływu turystyki festiwalowej na rozwój miasta Kostrzyna oraz na działalność lokalnych przedsiębiorstw handlowych i usługowych związaną z organizacją festiwalu. W artykule zaprezentowane zostały wyniki badań ankietowych, w której respondenci dokonali oceny rozwoju infrastruktury turystyczno-usługowej i technicznej, oceny działań władz samorządowych związanych z organizacją festiwalu oraz zapewnieniem bezpieczeństwa, zmian w zachowaniu mieszkańców miasta w okresie trwania festiwalu, zmian w obrotach oraz korzyści dla przedsiębiorców oraz korzyści wynikających z organizacji samego festiwalu.
