Let $$ \mathcal{K} $$(ℝ) stand for the hyperspace of all nonempty compact sets on the real line and let d ±(x;E) denote the (right- or left-hand) Lebesgue density of a measurable set E ⊂ ℝ at a point x∈ ℝ. In [3] it was proved that $$ \{ K \in \mathcal{K}(\mathbb{R}):\forall _x \in K(d^ + (x,K) = 1ord^ - (x,K) = 1)\} $$ is ⊓11-complete. In this paper we define an abstract density operator ⅅ± and we generalize the above result. Some applications are included.

Ψ-density point of a Lebesgue measurable set was introduced by Taylor in [Taylor S.J., On strengthening the Lebesgue Density Theorem, Fund. Math., 1958, 46, 305–315] and [Taylor S.J., An alternative form of Egoroff’s theorem, Fund. Math., 1960, 48, 169–174] as an answer to a problem posed by Ulam. We present a category analogue of the notion and of the Ψ-density topology. We define a category analogue of the Ψ-density point of the set A at a point x as the Ψ-density point at x of the regular open representation of A.

The paper concerns topologies introduced in a topological space (X, τ) by operators which are much weaker than the lower density operators. Some properties of the family of sets having the Baire property and the family of meager sets with respect to such topologies are investigated.

We construct Bernstein sets in ℝ having some additional algebraic properties. In particular, solving a problem of Kraszewski, Rałowski, Szczepaniak and Żeberski, we construct a Bernstein set which is a < c-covering and improve some other results of Rałowski, Szczepaniak and Żeberski on nonmeasurable sets.

In this article, semiring and semialgebra of sets are formalized so as to construct a measure of a given set in the next step. Although a semiring of sets has already been formalized in [13], that is, strictly speaking, a definition of a quasi semiring of sets suggested in the last few decades [15]. We adopt a classical definition of a semiring of sets here to avoid such a confusion. Ring of sets and algebra of sets have been formalized as non empty preboolean set [23] and field of subsets [18], respectively. In the second section, definitions of a ring and a σ-ring of sets, which are based on a semiring and a ring of sets respectively, are formalized and their related theorems are proved. In the third section, definitions of an algebra and a σ-algebra of sets, which are based on a semialgebra and an algebra of sets respectively, are formalized and their related theorems are proved. In the last section, mutual relationships between σ-ring and σ-algebra of sets are formalized and some related examples are given. The formalization is based on [15], and also referred to [9] and [16].

The σ-ideal (v 0) is associated with the Silver forcing, see [5]. Also, it constitutes the family of all completely doughnut null sets, see [9]. We introduce segment topologies to state some resemblances of (v 0) to the family of Ramsey null sets. To describe add(v 0) we adopt a proof of Base Matrix Lemma. Consistent results are stated, too. Halbeisen’s conjecture cov(v 0) = add(v 0) is confirmed under the hypothesis t = min{cf(c), r}. The hypothesis cov(v 0) = ω 1 implies that (v 0) has the ideal type (c, ω 1, c).

In the paper we give an analogue of the Filippov Lemma for the second order differential inclusions with the initial conditions y(0) = 0, y′(0) = 0, where the matrix A ∈ ℝd×d and multifunction is Lipschitz continuous in y with a t-independent constant l. The main result is the following: Assume that F is measurable in t and integrably bounded. Let y 0 ∈ W 2,1 be an arbitrary function fulfilling the above initial conditions and such that where p 0 ∈ L 1[0, 1]. Then there exists a solution y ∈ W 2,1 to the above differential inclusions such that a.e. in [0, 1], .

Let T 1 and T 2 be topologies defined on the same set X and let us say that (X, T 1) and (X, T 2) are similar if the families of sets which have nonempty interior with respect to T 1 and T 2 coincide. The aim of the paper is to study how similar topologies are related with each other.
