The even Clifford structure of the fourth Severi variety

76%
EN
TheHermitian symmetric spaceM = EIII appears in the classification of complete simply connected Riemannian manifolds carrying a parallel even Clifford structure [19]. This means the existence of a real oriented Euclidean vector bundle E over it together with an algebra bundle morphism φ : Cl0(E) → End(TM) mapping Ʌ2E into skew-symmetric endomorphisms, and the existence of a metric connection on E compatible with φ. We give an explicit description of such a vector bundle E as a sub-bundle of End(TM). From this we construct a canonical differential 8-form on EIII, associated with its holonomy Spin(10) · U(1) ⊂ U(16), that represents a generator of its cohomology ring. We relate it with a Schubert cycle structure by looking at EIII as the smooth projective variety V(4) ⊂ CP26 known as the fourth Severi variety.

Stable bundles on hypercomplex surfaces

64%
EN
A hypercomplex manifold is a manifold equipped with three complex structures I, J, K satisfying the quaternionic relations. Let M be a 4-dimensional compact smooth manifold equipped with a hypercomplex structure, and E be a vector bundle on M. We show that the moduli space of anti-self-dual connections on E is also hypercomplex, and admits a strong HKT metric. We also study manifolds with (4,4)-supersymmetry, that is, Riemannian manifolds equipped with a pair of strong HKT-structures that have opposite torsion. In the language of Hitchin’s and Gualtieri’s generalized complex geometry, (4,4)-manifolds are called “generalized hyperkähler manifolds”. We show that the moduli space of anti-self-dual connections on M is a (4,4)-manifold if M is equipped with a (4,4)-structure.

Transverse Hilbert schemes and completely integrable systems

64%
EN
In this paper we consider a special class of completely integrable systems that arise as transverse Hilbert schemes of d points of a complex symplectic surface S projecting onto ℂ via a surjective map p which is a submersion outside a discrete subset of S. We explicitly endow the transverse Hilbert scheme Sp[d] with a symplectic form and an endomorphism A of its tangent space with 2-dimensional eigenspaces and such that its characteristic polynomial is the square of its minimum polynomial and show it has the maximal number of commuting Hamiltonians. We then provide the inverse construction, starting from a 2ddimensional holomorphic integrable system W which has an endomorphism A: TW → TW satisfying the above properties and recover our initial surface S with W ≌ Sp[d].

Hyperholomorphic connections on coherent sheaves and stability

Let M be a hyperkähler manifold, and F a reflexive sheaf on M. Assume that F (away from its singularities) admits a connection ▿ with a curvature Θ which is invariant under the standard SU(2)-action on 2-forms. If Θ is square-integrable, such sheaf is called hyperholomorphic. Hyperholomorphic sheaves were studied at great length in [21]. Such sheaves are stable and their singular sets are hyperkähler subvarieties in M. In the present paper, we study sheaves admitting a connection with SU(2)-invariant curvature which is not necessary L 2-integrable. We show that such sheaves are polystable.
