On pseudocompact topological Brandt λ0-extensions of semitopological monoids

100%
EN
In the paper we investigate topological properties of a topological Brandt λ0-extension B0λ(S) of a semitopological monoid S with zero. In particular we prove that for every Tychonoff pseudocompact (resp., Hausdorff countably compact, Hausdorff compact) semitopological monoid S with zero there exists a unique semiregular pseudocompact (resp., Hausdorff countably compact, Hausdorff compact) extension B0λ(S) of S and establish their Stone-Cˇ ech and Bohr compactifications. We also describe a category whose objects are ingredients in the constructions of pseudocompact (resp., countably compact, sequentially compact, compact) topological Brandt λ0- extensions of pseudocompact (resp., countably compact, sequentially compact, compact) semitopological monoids with zeros.

On unitary Cauchy filters on topological monoids

76%
EN
For Hausdorff topological monoids, the concept of a unitary Cauchy net is a generalization of the concept of a fundamental sequence of reals. We consider properties and applications of such nets and of corresponding filters and prove, in particular, that the underlying set of a given monoid, endowed with the family of such filters, forms a Cauchy space whose convergence structure defines a uniform topology. A commutative monoid endowed with the corresponding uniformity is uniform. A distant purpose of the paper is to transfer the classical concepts of a completeness and of a completion into the theory of topological monoids.

Let G be a group and P G be the Boolean algebra of all subsets of G. A mapping Δ: P G → P G defined by Δ(A) = {g ∈ G: gA ∩ A is infinite} is called the combinatorial derivation. The mapping Δ can be considered as an analogue of the topological derivation d: P X→ P X, A ↦ A d, where X is a topological space and A d is the set of all limit points of A. We study the behaviour of subsets of G under action of Δ and its inverse mapping ∇. For example, we show that if G is infinite and I is an ideal in P G such that Δ(A) ∈ I and ∇(A) ⊆ I for each A ∈ I then I = P G.

In this paper we introduce perfectly supportable semigroups and prove that they are σ-discrete in each Hausdorff shiftinvariant topology. The class of perfectly supportable semigroups includes each semigroup S such that FSym(X) ⊂ S ⊂ FRel(X) where FRel(X) is the semigroup of finitely supported relations on an infinite set X and FSym(X) is the group of finitely supported permutations of X.
