We prove the following statements: (1) every Tychonoff linked-Lindelöf (centered-Lindelöf, star countable) space can be represented as a closed subspace in a Tychonoff pseudocompact absolutely star countable space; (2) every Hausdorff (regular, Tychonoff) linked-Lindelöf space can be represented as a closed G δ-subspace in a Hausdorff (regular, Tychonoff) absolutely star countable space; (3) there exists a pseudocompact absolutely star countable Tychonoff space having a regular closed subspace which is not star countable (hence not absolutely star countable); (4) assuming $$2^{\aleph _0 } = 2^{\aleph _1 }$$, there exists an absolutely star countable normal space having a regular closed subspace which is not star countable (hence not absolutely star countable).

Universally Kuratowski–Ulam Spaces And Open-Open Games

We examine the class of spaces in which the second player has a winning strategy in the open-open game. We show that this spaces are not universally Kuratowski–Ulam. We also show that the games G and G7 introduced by P. Daniels, K. Kunen, H. Zhou [Fund. Math. 145 (1994), no. 3, 205–220] are not equivalent.

On the homology of the Harmonic Archipelago

We calculate the singular homology and Čech cohomology groups of the Harmonic Archipelago. As a corollary, we prove that this space is not homotopy equivalent to the Griffiths space. This is interesting in view of Eda’s proof that the first singular homology groups of these spaces are isomorphic.

Group reflection and precompact paratopological groups

We construct a precompact completely regular paratopological Abelian group G of size (2ω)+ such that all subsets of G of cardinality ≤ 2ω are closed. This shows that Protasov’s theorem on non-closed discrete subsets of precompact topological groups cannot be extended to paratopological groups. We also prove that the group reflection of the product of an arbitrary family of paratopological (even semitopological) groups is topologically isomorphic to the product of the group reflections of the factors, and that the group reflection, H*, of a dense subgroup G of a paratopological group G is topologically isomorphic to a subgroup of G*.
