PREFACE

The Conference "Different Aspects of Differentiability" was held in Warsaw from September 13 to September 18, 1993. The organizing Committee included Piotr Antosik (Katowice), Danuta Przeworska-Rolewicz (Warszawa) and Krystyna Skórnik (Katowice).
The main topics were: algebraic analysis, operational calculi, generalized functions, related convergence problems, structures with differentiation, subdifferentials, their generalizations and applications to optimization.
40 mathematicians from 12 countries participated in the conference. They delivered 10 50-minute lectures, 15 30-minute lectures and 11 short communications.
The Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences was the organizer and main sponsor of the Conference. The Conference was also sponsored by The Polish Committee for Scientific Research. Two participants from Ukraine and one participant from Byelorussia were sponsored by International Science Foundation (USA). It should also be mentioned that a mathematician, wishing to remain anonymous, was an individual sponsor of the Conference.
The Organizing Committee is very indebted to all institutions and people who sponsored the Conference and helped the organizers in their efforts.

Most of papers in the Proceedings contain original results presented during the Conference. Some are of survey character. All papers have been reviewed individually.
