The authors examine the estimation of basic contrasts of treatment parameters in incomplete multiresponse block designs (IMBDs). The basic definitions and the preliminary discussion of IMBDs are the same as those of J. N. Srivastava [Ann. Math. Statist. 39 (1968), 1825–1843; MR0233468]. For the estimation of treatment contrasts in IMBDs, the authors make use of the theory of basic contrasts given by S. C. Pearce, the first author and T. F. de C. Marshall [Biometrika 61 (1974), 449–460; MR0386176]. In particular, the estimation of basic treatment contrasts in so-called homogeneous IMBDs is presented. The authors call an IMBD homogeneous if in all ordinary block-treatment designs D2i, i=1,2,⋯,u, (1) the v−1 basic treatment contrasts are estimable, and (2) the vectors of treatment replications are proportional, where u denotes the number of ordinary block-treatment designs each with the same number of treatments v. t

Układy blokowe wieloreakcjowe niekompletne są dogodne dla niektórych doświadczeń wielocechowych, szczególnie takich, w których pracochłonność przeprowadzenia pomiarów lub obserwacji uniemożliwia uwzględnienie jednocześnie wszystkich cech na każdej jednostce doświadczalnej. Mogą być także stosowane wtedy, gdy różna reakcja cech na zmienność środowiska narzuca przyjęcie różnego grupowania jednostek doświadczalnych dla poszczególnych zespołów cech. W pracy przedstawiony jest model liniowy dla pewnej klasy takich układów oraz zaproponowana jest metoda estymacji bazowych kontrastów obiektowych, wykorzystująca w odpowiedni sposób technikę wielozmiennej analizy wariancji, jednakże inaczej niż to proponuje Srivastava (1966, 1968).
